50th Anniversary Statehood Medallion

This Official Medallion of the 50th Anniversary of Alaska Statehood comes packaged in a leather and velvet look presentation box. Includes information card stating: The first Alaska State Legislature authorized the issuance of a bronze medallion to commemorate the admission of Alaska into the Union. The resolution included the specific design for the medallion.

This bronze medallion is one of 6,000 commissioned for production to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Statehood. The date now reads "January 3, 1959-2009" which is the only change to the original design.

The Alaska Statehood Celebration Commission provided communities throughout the State with medallions to use in their own AK50 celebrations.
